To be content with a sedentary life is a sin,
The longing for sun drenched destination grows,
I stand on the crossroad where choices are abundant,
Like a lost souls who is compelled to walk perpetually on the road of despair.
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a destination which is less known for leisure travel and more know for strict policies and harsh principles. The perceived image we have in our mind is filthy rich sheikhs with their Burkha clad wives and oil wells. But Saudi is much more than this and I had the chance to visit Saudi Arabia and was up close and saw beyond the veil.
Here are some pictures of the place where I visited and for more details about the place you can visit the link.
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a destination where none of us would travel for leisure. May be because it is perceived as the country with strict principles and imposed policies. To many of us, the country reminds only of oil wells, dates and filthy rich sheikhs with their 4-5 wives in Burqa but there is so much beyond that. Jeddah, the commercial capital of Saudi Arabia lies on the coast of Red Sea in Asia. The place is famous more so because it is the gateway for Muslim pilgrims to their holy place – Mecca and Medina.
My visit to Jeddah was to meet some business purpose, but I couldn’t resist myself from exploring the city’s culture beyond its deemed conservative and fundamentalist nature. It was a quick ride from King Abdulaziz International Airport to my Hotel Red Sea Palace, all thanks to the city’s broad smooth roads. The swanky cars on the roads could…

Wordless Wednesday – I like the name and the idea, all bloggers around the world will post a picture without any explanation. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
Please visit the link from where I got the idea:- Travel with intend. http://travelwithintent.com/
On my brief visit to Allahabad few days back, I saw the world renowned wonders that are present there for example the Sangam, Allahabad fort etc but the really exciting thing that happened was in the train while coming back. I had no return ticket and had to bribe the ticket master to get a seat, a common practice in India.
I thought my train ride would be menial and will meet people who would only want to sleep through the entire journey but instead I met some like minded fellow travelers. I met two girls, one from Kashmir and one from Sikkim and both were travel enthusiast. There was a guy also from Brazil who had devoted his life to Hare Rama Hare Krishna ideologies.
The girl from Kashmir owned a travel agency and specialized in organizing tours in Kashmir and rest of India. She was a chatter box and business women that is the only two traits I could gage from my talks with her. Her philosophies and ideologies about religion were strong as a rock.
The girl from Sikkim was a travel and tourism student who studied in Chandigarh and had done adventure trips in India. She also suggested me some new places to visit in Himachal Pradesh and festival in ladakh which is going to happen in April. She was sweet and her travel stories were mesmerizing.
The third person was from Brazil who had taken up Hare Rama Hare Krishna ideologies and had been in India for seven years. But the interesting thing about this guy was that he was in love with Indian culture and he knew two different Indian languages (Bengali, Hindi, some Indian language which I don’t know, Spanish and English). His praises regarding India convinced me that I was living in the best country in the world but then I lost interest as he started telling me about his religions and gurus as I am unaware about religions and a kind of atheist to be honest.
Chits chatting with these people made the time go by quickly and made my train ride a hunky dory one. Hope to meet people like them soon.
As she stepped out in the open the glittering stars and the crimson sky made her face light up, her soul constantly seeking and craving for a new adventure, to step into the wild, feel the hustle of fresh air on her face. The scenario of unbound life filled her heart with joy.
A monotonous job or some social issues was never her concern she was more inclined towards a helter-skelter style of life, finding the meaning of life and admiring the beauty of it. The notion of cities with borders was absurd to her, the only thought she had was to get away, explore the things which god has placed around the world, this was her ultimate endeavor. She felt rejuvenated by new experiences; her search for happiness was not human companionship but to seek beauty in nature that made her happy. Her only dream was to seek new land, unravel the mysteries, never settle down, be a nomad, experience the ways of life and the only thought she had was to get away.
Her never ending journey and her love for the road, to travel far and conquer the world with her grace, the wanderlust had gripped her soul.
I call her …”The Wanderer”
Restless heart is craving for something unknown,
Never ending search for peace I walk alone,
To start a new journey million miles away,
Looking for the ultimate adventure and escape these shades of grey.
Home sick for a place I haven’t been,
I wandered to the glistering city of Venice,
Crying under the bridge of sighs was my penance,
My soul is lost on the streets of black Venice,
Soon this serenity shall also vanish.
I wandered to my favorite city,
To feel freedom smiling and running into my arms,
To rediscover myself and rejuvenate the spirit with new experiences,
But the dark skies and the drizzle doesn’t illuminate the idea of hope,
This is my melancholy London,
Where I thought joy was abundant.
The journey to find the meaning of life,
New faces I met their ideology brought me a never ending strife,
Again walking under the withering blue skies of desperation,
Now love becomes an aversion,
Absurd travel that brought only tears,
I could only gather a sad souvenir.
“Lake District is paradise on earth,
It’s like I believe in God but spell it as Nature”
As I was going through some old pictures of family and friends yesterday, I stumbled upon some nature pictures of Lake District. In an instant I went into a blissful mood, the pictures were taken by me when I went to Lake District in England (U.K.). I have discovered a new way of meditation and the natural beauty so mesmerizing just by seeing the pictures your mood will be filled with joy.
Just a little background on Lake District, it is the mountainous region in North-West England which is mainly famous for its mountains, lakes and its association with the famous romantic poet William Wordsworth. Lake District is the Britain’s greenest and finest countryside, having England’s largest lake called Windermere. Windermere is a ribbon lake as it was formed by two glaciers Troutbeck valley and Fairfield Horseshoe. When the glaciers melted the lake was formed. Another lake in this district which serves as a tourist attraction is called Buttermere which has the best walking country in Lakeland as there is a footpath running round the lake.
The scenic region of Lake District which is in Cumbria and Lancashire will certainly cast its spell on anyone who visits this region and I can vouch that after visiting Lake District you will become a nature person. Just to give you guys a glimpse of this paradise on earth I have also appended the pictures of this scenic place.
Buttermere, Windermere and South Lakeland
“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more”
I just love London, the city that has culture, history and at the same time the city is modernized as well as maintaining its heritage and essence. London has a vibrant soul and offers a great array of tourist spots, food, people, the frolic it’s all there.
London is promising, there is so much to explore, London is like a friend, if you are feeling lonely go enjoy the nightlife it will energize you, when you are in a mood to explore go and visit Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Windsor Castle, Madame Tussaud’s museum, London Bridge and Piccadilly street. When you are in a crazy mood go enjoy street shows.
While Leonardo da Vinci was painting Mona Lisa I think he had London in his mind, in the picture the way the hands rest on the arm chair depicts harmony and peace. The clothes imitate steady curves of the river, small roads behind her; the face expression is peaceful and modest. The background which has the hills, roads and the clouds all form a dreamy picture and giving more depth to the portrait. Leonardo da Vinci was putting all aspects of London in the portrait, Thames River, small roads, the message of peace and harmony which London portrays and most significant aspect was the smile which we all get when we are in the enchanting city.
London is like a first kiss can’t forget it; it is there in the back of your mind.
I miss you London.
